Bunheads Part 2

Here I am again, back to blog about Bunheads. I still think this is a ridiculous concept for a show, but I guess that means I don't fit its target demographic. I think this is for tweens and teen females, particularly those that dance or are into that kind of art.

Bunheads' second season is supposed to air back-to-back on January 7. I honestly couldn't find too much to write about on this show because everything was from the summer, but IMDB has them listed with a 7.1/10 rating which is pretty good!

I read through a few online blog comments about this show and the viewers are very excited about the second season to begin. I don't understand why ABC took such a large break between the two seasons though... I would think that would hurt them and they would lose some of their audience.

Moving on, I think this show is a good fit for ABC if anything, because it is known as the family network and a lot of families have daughters (rather than sons) that dance. I haven't seen any of this show, but I would imagine that there isn't any swearing or scandalous behavior, so it is safe for a family to watch together (though the boys might definitely get bored). It's a comedy/drama with an all female cast. Enough said!

One last thought, if they could teach me how to do that split, ^^^ I would totally watch the show :).

The Bunheads are coming!

Bunheads is an American television comedy-drama series created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Lamar Damon, starring Sutton Foster. The show premiered on ABC Family on June 11, 2012 and centers on a Las Vegas showgirl who gets married on a whim and winds up teaching alongside her new mother-in-law at her ballet school.

This show is supposed to be a comedy/drama. None of the

significant cast's name rang a bell with me...Sutton Foster, Kaitlyn Jenkins, Julia Goldani Telles, Bailey Buntain, and Emma Dumont. It's a single camera show that has already launched 10 episodes for its first season.
Above is a picture of the cast.

Apparently, the last episode aired on August 10, 2012? Unless Wikipedia is wrong...The 11th episode is scheduled for January 7th, 2013.

IMBD has a 7.2/10 rating listed for Bunheads

A quoted storyline, "Michelle Simms is a ballerina turned Las Vegas showgirl. Feeling her career and life is in a rut, she accepts a marriage proposal from a kind admirer and moves to a small and sleepy town. There she takes a job at her mother-in-law's dance school, but things don't always run smoothly." ... Doesn't sound too promising. Why do people seem to rush into marriage so easily on television shows?! The world may never know...

Comments on IMBD were very fascinating...even a 22-year-old male commented. He recommends the show. "If you liked Gilmore Girls, or want a family comedy-drama, or are just bored on a Monday night, I highly recommend checking out Bunheads. Even if you're a twenty-something guy..." HILARIOUS!

Looking back at my original show, Partners, I found this article written two days ago by tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com. The title is "

CBS: 'Partners' Is Certain To Be Canceled, Why Didn't It Get Pulled For 'Rules Of Engagement' Already?"

Harsh! They claim that Partners is certain to be cancelled by May 2013. The article continues to state that "CBS typically cancels its lowest rated sitcom each season, so rookie sitcom Partners has been certain to be canceled from the day its ratings stumbled out of the gate. It's likely still on the air because of the economic reality for stocking up on replacement shows I wrote about in the ABC post this week. Although CBS could have putRules of Engagement in its slot quickly the same way they did for How To Be A Gentleman last season."

You can read the article here: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/11/13/cbs-partners-is-certain-to-be-canceled-why-didnt-it-get-pulled-for-rules-of-engagement-already/157079/

Looks like Partners doesn't stand a chance!

Schticky Partners?

According to a graphic in a link that Dr. Crawford provided for us, Partners, or CBS rather, spends $161,675 for 30 seconds of commercials. Also, Partners is trying to entice viewers with interesting episode names such as "It gets hot, sexy and a little "tingly" on PARTNERS!" However, the show is still failing and not doing as well as expected.

I'm just glad the show hasn't been cancelled yet...Partners is getting criticized pretty harshly though. One article written for the Huffington Post was titled
"'Guys With Kids' Review, Plus 'Partners' And 'Neighbors': Fall TV's Three Least Promising Comedies." The article made me laugh with the line "This appears to be the re-animated corpse of a tired, schticky comedy pilot from 1996"...I'm not too sure what schticky means but apparently it isn't a good thing. The article continues to criticize lines used in the show; a Clay Aiken joke was a bad idea. It's sad to see that some shows on CBS have so much success and others, like Partners, become a flop. I guess that is part of the risk you take with new shows! We shall see how much longer it will last...

Sink or Swim?

I just read some pretty sad news. According to tvseriesfinale.com, Partners has bit the dust and it’s “fate is sealed.” The second episode dropped 13% to a 2.1 rating with 5.71 million viewers. CBS is trying this new sitcom out which is created by the same people who made Will & Grace, but there seems to be a negative trend. Tvseriesfinale.com stated, “CBS has cancelled numerous sitcoms despite their having decent ratings,” which makes me nervous for Partners’ success. (To read the full article, visit: http://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/partners-season-one-ratings-24554/

When looking at shows that air before and after Partners, Partners comes in last place. Lead-in How I Met Your Mother earned a 3.4 rating and its lead-out, 2 Broke Girls, received a 3.7 rating. Disappointingly, it seems as if audiences are tuning out, rather than in, during Partners. I guess the idea of hammocking didn't work in this case!

Variety.com also mentions how Partners’ timeslot is affecting the show. “Partners' timeslot hammock -- while initially an asset -- leaves the show vulnerable if it looks like it's in any way becoming a drag on Girls,” stated variety.com (To read the full article, visit: http://www.variety.com/review/VE1117948373?refCatId=32)

Interestingly enough, the network was much lower when comparing this sitcom to the How I Met Your Mother episode that aired in the same timeslot last year. Boo! What an outrage!

Partners round 1

Partners on CBS! Personally, I think this show is going to be a hit... This show starts on Monday, September 24th @ 8:30 so mark your calendars!

The creators are: David Kohan and Max Mutchnick (writing credit), though I have never heard of them. Apparently, they also created Will and Grace.
James Burrows is the director....eh, still wish I thought I had Jimmy Fallon EP of Guys With Kids!!!

In summary, two grown male best friends, that have been friends since childhood, live and work together as business partners in architecture. One is straight; one is gay (way to incorporate a modern twist in there!) The great aspect of this show is that the men both know each other very well since they have been friends for so long. They are comfortable with each other and constantly crack sarcastic jokes. I found the show funny and very relate-able because we all have that best friend we keep an eye out for. In a way, the show reminds me of Two and a Half Men...

In a way, this show might be seen as an "underdog" because no big names are in it. (besides Sophia Bush)

I'm gonna link this to IMDB so you can see the cast list since copy-pasting the list is giving me problems! Cast list.

IMDB had a rating for this show at 4.9/10 from 46 users.

I finally found a trailer that works: http://www.cbs.com/shows/new_season_central/video/2235590015/partners-2012-fall-preview

and

I am very excited to see this show and think it is going to do great! What do you think?
