Schticky Partners?

According to a graphic in a link that Dr. Crawford provided for us, Partners, or CBS rather, spends $161,675 for 30 seconds of commercials. Also, Partners is trying to entice viewers with interesting episode names such as "It gets hot, sexy and a little "tingly" on PARTNERS!" However, the show is still failing and not doing as well as expected.

I'm just glad the show hasn't been cancelled yet...Partners is getting criticized pretty harshly though. One article written for the Huffington Post was titled
"'Guys With Kids' Review, Plus 'Partners' And 'Neighbors': Fall TV's Three Least Promising Comedies." The article made me laugh with the line "This appears to be the re-animated corpse of a tired, schticky comedy pilot from 1996"...I'm not too sure what schticky means but apparently it isn't a good thing. The article continues to criticize lines used in the show; a Clay Aiken joke was a bad idea. It's sad to see that some shows on CBS have so much success and others, like Partners, become a flop. I guess that is part of the risk you take with new shows! We shall see how much longer it will last...

  1. I haven't seen it but it seems like it's not that bad of an idea. I think the problem is that CBS doesn't really promote it enough, or when they do, they use previews that aren't enticing enough for it, instead of highlighting its stronger points.

  2. This show honestly never interested me so I'm really not surprised the show wasn't successful. Although, there are some promising characters because they've been on other shows, but I really don't think it's had legs to begin with. I definitely agree with Eric.

  3. Eric has a point. I didn't really know about this show until we were given the project of watching the shows. They probably should have looked into advertising on Youtube. But, side story, my girlfriend did preview of the show's pilot in July when she visited the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and gave her opinion of it. She really liked it, but never watches it when it airs because she doesn't have time. I've caught it a few times, but I always seem to change the channel.

  4. I'm a fan of Partners so this harsh criticism isn't quite music to my ears. But that's just critics being critics right? Although I haven't been keeping up with the show lately, but the episodes I have seen, always gave me a chuckle. Seeing how CBS love love loves their comedies they are more likely to be tough on ones not doing so well. Hopefully Partners will stick around a little while and CBS will keep some some faith in it. Cause, unlike these other shows that have been canceled already, Partners seems like it could take off eventually. Barry has a good point about advertising though. And I must add, the Clay Aiken joke was pretty funny. LOL

  5. The advertising just isn't doing it for me. Solid cast but the previews just seemed like they didn't have much. A lot of shows are dropping so im curious to see whats next o_O
