I just read some pretty sad news.
According to tvseriesfinale.com, Partners
has bit the dust and it’s “fate is sealed.” The second episode dropped 13% to a
2.1 rating with 5.71 million viewers. CBS is trying this new sitcom out which
is created by the same people who made Will
& Grace, but there seems to be a negative trend. Tvseriesfinale.com stated,
“CBS has cancelled numerous
sitcoms despite their having decent ratings,” which makes me nervous for
Partners’ success. (To read the full article, visit: http://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/partners-season-one-ratings-24554/
When
looking at shows that air before and after Partners,
Partners comes in last place. Lead-in How
I Met Your Mother earned a
3.4 rating and its lead-out, 2 Broke Girls, received a 3.7 rating. Disappointingly,
it seems as if audiences are tuning out, rather than in, during Partners. I guess the idea of hammocking didn't work in this case!
Variety.com
also mentions how Partners’ timeslot
is affecting the show. “Partners'
timeslot hammock -- while initially an asset -- leaves the show vulnerable if
it looks like it's in any way becoming a drag on Girls,” stated variety.com (To read the full article, visit: http://www.variety.com/review/VE1117948373?refCatId=32)
Interestingly
enough, the network was much lower when comparing this sitcom to the How
I Met Your Mother episode that aired in the same timeslot last year.
Boo! What an outrage!

I think the real problem is that all the CBS shows usually do so great that when a show like this gets ratings like this, CBS automatically considers it a failure. Everything CBS touches usually turns to gold, but putting a new show like this in a time slot like this spells doom. Maybe NBC should pick it up because Partners probably outrates even the best NBC shows. LOL
ReplyDeleteIt's sad to see "Partners" can't keep the audience tuned in, but that second week drop has been hitting many of the shows too. Hopefully CBS can keep some faith in "Partners" maybe try moving it a round to a different day or time, since it's not producing in this slot as well as CBS is used to. I defiantly do hope "Partners" sticks around at least one whole season, I actually kind of like it.
ReplyDeleteI really don't understand how The Partners' ratings are so low. With "How I Met Your Mother" and "2 Broke Girls" before and after, it should be all set to succeed. Granted, I don't like "2 Broke Girls" but I like "HIMYM" and I enjoy watching "Partners". The comedy is pretty funny and I really hope to see it work out.
ReplyDeleteI'm very suprised how this show is turning out. I watched it and didn't get very many laughs. Although, compared to How I Met Your Mother, I was hoping it would do better, because I know that show is dated. But with the time slot it's at it should be doing a little better than it is, considering how great the shows before and after are. Hopefully a couple more episodes and it will catch on.
ReplyDeleteThat's the downside of being on CBS. If this were NBC, it would have been renewed by now with a 2.1 rating. Heck, with a 2.1 rating, NBC would be building an evening of programming around it...
